Hello 👋 Emily here, and welcome to your new ContentUK newsletter!

I’m thrilled to have taken over ContentUK from Christina, and am so excited to build on what she’s done so far to provide a community for content folks here in the UK.

Who am I?

I’m Emily, I’ve been working in content for about 10 years now. I’ve been at a couple of agencies (most recently a team lead at Animalz), was in-house at a startup as it raised its series A and later got acquired, and now I’m freelancing after having my little boy last year.

Why ContentUK?

Put simply: I think us content folk deserve somewhere to connect, meet each other, and learn from one another, without always doing things on US time.

And, I’m a big believer in independence. My very first job was at an independent publisher that had been run by the same man for 60 years(!!!) He’d resisted countless offers to acquire his business over the decades, and was so proud of its independent status. That stuck with me, and when I saw Christina was looking to hand over ContentUK, I hated the thought of this community being acquired by a company and turned into some sort of sales funnel or marketing channel. So I got in touch, and here we are.

What next?
